Jour Cinq – 8 de Juillet 2015: Journèe des Musèes

Coming soon...

Amy examining on of Monet's "Les Nympheas" paintings.  The Musee de l'Orangerie has 8 of these wall sized works in two identical oval rooms, under natural light as Monet had requested.  He painted these at his home in Giverny, which we will visit on our way from Caen to Chamonix.

The Musee d'Orsay, which used to be a train station, now an incredible art museum.
The view out of one of the clocks on the top of the Musee d'Orsay.  In the 5 o'clock pie segment you can see the Sacre Cour Basilica.
VanGogh's "Thatched Cottages at Cordeville".
VanGogh's "Self Portrait".
Van Gogh's "Vincent's Bedroom in Arles".

The main hall of the Musee d'Orsay.

One of Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec's paintings depicting the nightlife of Montmarte during the late 19th century.

Egyptian artifacts at The Louvre.

Mona Lisa selfie.

The Mona Lisa room and everyone trying to get a view/picture of the painting.
"The Winged Victory of Samothrace" at the Louvre.

People playing Petanque - kind of like bocce ball - in a small park on Ile Saint Louis.

Paris nightlife - people enjoying the cafes and shops of Paris's Latin Quarter.

The Eiffel Tower, all lit up at night.  It started sparkling just as our boat pulled up.

Notre Dame at night.

Night view of Paris looking up the Seine.
