Today was by far the most relaxing day of our trip. Originally we had planned to do some
sightseeing around St. Louis before heading over to see the Taves, but we were
pretty exhausted when we woke up (the game did go into extra-innings last
night) and there really wasn’t anything we were super excited about
seeing. So instead of sightseeing for
the sake of sightseeing, we decided to sleep in and take it easy.
After a nice lazy morning, we headed over to the Taves’ house
to see Erin, Adam, Audrey, and their new little guy Alexander. It was also our first time down to see them
since they moved into their new house, so it was great to catch up. We had a nice lunch, played with the baby (as
much as you can play with an almost 3 week old baby, took a walk through the
neighborhood with Audrey, and watched some of the Australia v. Japan game from
the Women’s World Cup. Erin’s family was
in town and they took the kids, so the four of us were able to head out to a
really nice dinner at Annie Gunn’s. We
split a smoked fish appetizer and then Amy had a salmon dish and I had lamb
chops for the main course. But as good
as dinner was, dessert took the cake (ha!).
The four of us split a pretty good chocolate torte and an amazing banana
bread pudding. Overall it was just a
really fantastic meal.
After dinner we just went back to Adam and Erin’s to say
goodnight to the kids before heading back to the hotel to get packed up. Tomorrow we’ll be up early so we can start
making our way home!
